Henry V
As the academic year came to a close, the Senior Production of ‘Henry V’ came to fruition. After a tough year for live productions, with lockdowns, tiers, and social distancing guidelines, Miss Fenton decided to set the production at Southfields. With the help of Mike Taylor, the set spanned through the forest, enabling the play to have scenes in differing locations. The rural setting perfectly accommodated the play. Henry V tells the narrative of England attempting to claim France and Henry’s journey as a King to rally his forces. The forest was perfect for the camps and battlefields, transferring the audience into their reality. As the play progressed, darkness fell and the audience were drowned out, as the play reached its dramatic, dimly lit close.
Despite cast dropouts and complications, the cast did an amazing job of captivating Shakespeare’s play. It was an exceptional effort by all to multirole and adapt to the adversity faced. The variety of accents was particularly impressive, amazingly accurate Welsh, French and Scottish accents were all demonstrated.
A special mention must go to Tom Price who encapsulated the role of Henry, as well as the Year 13s who came back after their exams to join the cast, doing an amazing job. The whole cast contributed to creating an unforgettable experience, a Senior Production to remember.
