Staff Wellbeing
The Skinners’ School is committed to providing a safe, secure and supportive environment that promotes positive mental health and wellbeing for our pupils, staff and other stakeholders.
Positive mental health and wellbeing is vital to what we do at school; it underpins the crucial work carried out to support students and their families. We are committed to supporting staff mental health and wellbeing.
Outlined below are some of the ways in which staff are supported:
- Mental Health Lead is Debbie Brake, Senior Deputy Headteacher
- Staff have access to the following programmes as part of their employee package
- Headspace, providing resources and research around mindfulness and meditation
- Employee Assistance Programme through Health Assured - Benenden Health Care
- Nuffield Health
- Blue Light card
- Free use of the fitness suite and sports facilities
- Staff socials, where staff are free to join timetabled sports activities on site or social events off site
- Wellbeing weeks, which include daily activities to encourage mindfulness, running or Tai Chi, a pot-luck lunch and musical entertainment
- An email protocol which supports communications face-to-face or by phone call, in preference to email, and no expectation for staff to be available during non-work hours
- A colleague recognition scheme
- A commitment to support staff with personal issues and an empathetic approach to such issues
- Salary sacrifice schemes for bicycles and electric cars
- Professional development - support, financial and time for some personal qualifications.
